40
Pound Club

Rivers Inlet Resort not only offers great trophy chinook fishing,
hospitality, service and a wilderness experience, we offer membership to anyone who
catches a 40 pound or larger chinook salmon. While you might think this is an exclusive
club, it's not. Our 40 pound club really isn't any big deal considering the average size of
chinook taken by Rivers Inlet Resort guests hovers at or below the 40 pound mark.
Some years the average size of chinook exceeds the 40 pound mark, but we let
anglers in the club anyway!
And contrary to popular demand, we won't increase
the size requirments to keep anglers out of the club. Hey, we don't want the club
turning into an exclusive, snobby angler club, we want anglers like you to belong. Kids
gain membership to our 40 pound club too.
If you don't like our club you can always try
to join one of the other Rivers Inlet lodge Tyee clubs. The other lodges only require
anglers to catch 30 pound chinook, which means almost everyone that catches a fish gains
membership.
Uhmm??? We've never thought of it that way
before. Our club is exclusive after all. But you can still join with the expert help
of the Rivers Inlet Resort staff that will help anglers in their search for the trophy
chinook of their lifetime, trip or season. Just ask for help.
We also offer a gold hook (don't get to excited, it's not real gold) to wear
on your 40 pound club hat. To get the gold hook all you need to do is catch a 50 pound or
larger chinook. Each year we give away lots of gold hooks, so don't think you don't stand
a chance because you do. Sometimes anglers blow their chance because they catch and keep
chinook that are to small, you know, the barely 40 pounders. When the fishing is hot we
reccomend that you don't limit early on during your stay. Release a few fish and try for
something bigger.
